Shiv Chand Public High School, Sakohpur, holds a distinguished name in Co-educational, schools in Nawanshahr. This school is a Global, Co-educational, of a very rich reputation and runs from Pre-Play to Grade XII (Commerce and Humanities) with its motto: 'Darkness to Light.' The school is governed by Shiv Chand Educational Trust that yearns for holistic development of its pupils. It is a multi faceted educational institution, working hand for imbibing cultural & human values among the children while making them confident enough- socially and academically to make face in the crowd. The school stands tall with an incredible infrastructure with all the ultra modern facilities. It has a beautiful and vast library catering to at least 3000 books on various subjects. There are all the Labs which are required in a school i.e., Computer and Internet Lab, Art & Craft Room, Science Lab –(Physics, Chemistry, Biology ) Maths Lab., Geography Lab. Etc. The true potential of the child lies in where he explores and finds every possible aspect of learning and so do we encourage our students to participate in various scholastic & co- scholastic activities. There is variety of (indoor and outdoor) games such as Cricket, Football, Table Tennis, Basket Ball etc. Martial art is the basic strength of sports in our school. Trained Coaches guide the students in all the fields of sports. Considering all such aspects, we attempt to accomplish our vision to a true holistic education.

History of Shiv Chand Public High School

Every dawn brings a new hope in the life of everyman, for which everyone has to struggle and work hard in life. Similarly, S. RAGHBIR SINGH DHAH had such dreams to fulfil, on coming back to his motherland. He came to his birth land with determination to spread the light of EDUCATION among those who were unable to have a reach for the good education. S. RAGHBIR SINGH DHAH was born on 27th May, 1936 in the village Sakohpur, Distt. SBS Nagar Standing between three brothers and three sisters he thought himself as a key man and he got good chances under the shelter of his mother Smt. CHINT KAUR and father SHRI SHIV CHAND. He was married to Smt. GURBACHAN KAUR who helped him in all walks of life. The welfare of the mankind has so much housed in the heart of S.DHAH that he decided to donate all his estate and land and house. Keeping in view the improper utilization of the donated property, he decided with the co-operation of his friends to open a school. Finally, for keeping the memory forever of his father, Sh. Raghbir Singh laid the foundation of this school, bearing the name "SHIV CHAND PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL" on 5th May, 2002. The work of constructing the building of school was handed over to the younger brother Shri. Om Prakash Dhah of S. RAGHVIR SINGH DHAH. The building was completed in the Year 2002 and inauguration of the school was performed on 8th November, 2002. In the beginning, 250 children became part of this school . Today near around 800 students are studying in SCPHS. In October, 2014 Sh. Manjit Singh Dhah and his sister Mrs.Rajinderpal Kaur Sunner took over the responsibility of Shiv Chand Public High School. In the last few years, SCPHS team has taken this school to great heights and will continue providing the valuable services for the betterment of the school and the students.
